January 22, 2014 - Magala Lemefa Village, Ethiopia - After feeding her cow and sheep beneficiary Hirbaye Shorre's, 46, stands outside her house with her daughter Bekelech Shorre, 15, left, and grandsons, Abiti Tariku, 8, seated right, Jaleta Tariku, 4, seated center, and Lidetu Tariku, 5. As a member of the Homa Multipurpose Cooperative Ms. Shorre received a loan to rear sheep. She purchased a cow with proceeds from the sale of three sheep. Before Ms. Shorre received her loan she was required to complete three days of sheep management training. She learned to prepare a supplementary feed during this training which was facilitated by the implementing partner, the Ethio-Wetlands and Natural Resources (EWNRA) Association. She stated that since her involvement in the Livelihood Diversification for Small Holder Coffee Farmers in Ethiopia project, she has more money for food, clothes, household items and school expenses.
